5" x 9" ~ Watercolor on Paper

This background is a favorite example of letting the watercolor do it's thing. But still leaving the subtle hints of distant leaves and flowers. I used lots of different colors and many, many glazes. But keeping it dark so the Roses would really be the star of the show. Enjoy.

love the way that you create your moody backgrounds with the hint of what is there which at the same time enhance the foreground, its so great to see a master of their art produce day after day such defined beauty snd perfection

Beautiful light!

Our roses are coming to the end after a long hot summer (equal hottest since records began), but some other garden blooms are hanging on for grim death!

I'm off to look at more of your work - really beautiful images.
