Sunset at Lake Michigan

"Sunset at Lake Michigan"
9" x 6.5" ~ Watercolor on Paper

AVAILABLE

Well, I've finally bite the bullet and painted my lake in watercolor. I was a little nervous, I'm not sure why. Probably because my Lake Michigan means so much to me. :-) Or the fact that this is my first landscape (seascape?) ever. Hoping to take another trip up there this week sometime. It's supposed to be warm.

Wow! Gorgeous sunset.. The water is so real..I wonder how much musking fluid it takes to make it glow :)

Thank you Jacqueline!

Great! Your first, but as beautiful as any of your flowers:)
I like the way you kept the golden light afloat on the gray waters...

This is lovely! Having grown up in Michigan, I've been on Lake Michigan many times. You did a great job!

Happy Painting!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I liked it last night, really liked how the water turned out (the hardest part). I still liked it this morning....the true test. Sometimes when I've worked on something for awhile, I can't "see" it anymore. So, step away from the drawing board and "see" it again with fresh eyes the next day!!

Everything that I expected, absolutely wonderful. Never attempted a seascape, I would never imagine that. Would love to see a dvd of something like this. My artist hat is off to you.

It turned out beautifully. Your scene feels very peaceful, yet has a good sense of motion. The colors are gorgeous.
